The feisty females at St Trinian's Girls' School answer to no-one, doing what the devil they like under the not-too-watchful eye of headmistress Camilla Fritton (Rupert Everett). But the legacy of the most notorious school in England looks likely to come to an abrupt end as Miss Fritton can't pay the bills, and straight-laced education minister Geoffrey Thwaites (Colin Firth) is set on closing the doors of St Trinian's for good. It's up to the scrappy students, led by head girl Kelly (Gemma Arterton), to hatch a plan to save their beloved school.
The riotous shenanigans of the girls of St Trinian's were first penned as a cartoon by Ronald Searle, and their antics hit the silver screen in a series of films from 1954 to 1980.
This 2007 version drags the famous school smack-bang into the 21st century, with shorter skirts, lower necklines and bags more attitude. Look out for Russell Brand's turn as Flash Harry, soon-to-be-Bond girl Arterton and model Lily Cole in her first acting role.
