Here’s all you need to know about Haul Out the Holly filming locations in Cottonwood Heights, Salt Lake City, Utah. A suburban neighbourhood became Evergreen Lane, home to Emily’s (Lacey Chabert) parents and the local HOA, led by Jared (Wes Brown). And for an extra touch of winter atmosphere, look out for a famous Utah mountain range in the movie too.

Hallmark’s Queen of Christmas, Lacey Chabert plays Emily, who returns to her hometown of Evergreen Lane after a breakup. But her plans take an unexpected turn when her parents announce they’re moving for Florida – that same day. She grudgingly stays behind to take on Christmas with the Evergreen Lane committee’s strict rules, regulations, and Nutcracker Code.

Haul Out the Holly premiered on 26th November 2022 on the Hallmark Channel. In the UK, the holiday movie is shown on Christmas 24, which is free for Sky and Virgin customers. The sequel, Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up premiered on 25th November 2023.

Where Was Haul Out the Holly Filmed?

Filming for Haul Out the Holly took place in Cottonwood Heights, Salt Lake City, between July and September 2022. Due to the filming schedule, the Hallmark Christmas movie had to use artificial snow to create those thick snowdrifts. And of course, the production brought in larger-than-life Christmas displays to make every home sparkle.

The Today Show reported from the set at the end of September 2022. During the show’s visit, they shared shots of the movie’s Evergreen Lane location in full Christmas mode.

Haul Out the Holly is one of many Christmas movies filmed in Utah in recent years, following in the snowy footsteps of Lindsay Lohan’s Christmas movie, Falling For Christmas; Christmas Tree Lane with Alicia Witt; and High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special.

Haul Out the Holly Locations

Evergreen Lane

The real Evergreen Lane location is Cottonwood Heights, a suburban area of just south of Salt Lake City in Utah.

Most of Haul Out the Holly was filmed on a real residential street, since the action centres around the neighbourhood’s Christmas-loving homeowners. They’re private homes, but luckily for us, the Hallmark Channel provided a sneak peek behind the scenes and inside the houses of Evergreen Lane.

As Emily and the HOA battle over the height of a nutcracker from show to chapeau, and align their light-up reindeer just right, we see a lot of their front gardens too. Homes in the area are known for their spacious lots, but there was just one problem. Filming took place at the height of summer, so every yard and tree was given its own coat of fake snow.

Star Lacey Chabert shared a behind-the-scenes shot of her own attempt at covering the suburb’s green foliage in artificial flakes.

The Mountains

The mountains in Haul Out the Holly belong to Utah’s Wasatch Mountain Range, which hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics. While this holiday movie doesn’t treat us to scenes set on the slopes, those peaks rising above the suburb help to complete the wintry scene.

Hallmark’s Evergreen Lane filming location Cottonwood Heights may be suburban, but it’s closely linked to that snow-topped landscape. Since the neighbourhood sits perfectly between Salt Lake City and the mountains, it’s earned a name as a great apres-ski destination.

Where Was Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up Filmed?

The Hallmark Christmas movie Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up was filmed in Cottonwood Heights, Utah in April 2023. The cast and crew unpacked the nutcrackers once more to recreate the winter wonderland world of Evergreen Lane for the sequel. Lacey Chabert and Wes Brown are back in their original roles, with Melissa Peterman, Ellen Travolta and Stephen Tobolowsky returning for more Christmas fun.

Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up is scheduled to premiere on 25th November 2023 on the Hallmark Channel in the US. A sneak peek aired during the Christmas in July screening of Haul Out the Holly in summer 2023.
