Lindsay Lohan’s 2024 Netflix romance follows Maddie Kelly, the ghostwriter of celebrity Paul Kennedy’s (Alexander Vlahos) new book. Posing as his editor to cover up her real role, she and her friends Heather (Ayesha Curry) and Emma (Elizabeth Tan) meet Paul at his New York book launch. Maddie has a crush on Paul, but he actually falls for Emma.
When Maddie and Heather follow Emma to Ireland for her wedding to Paul, Maddie meets and befriends James (Ed Speleers), a photographer. During a visit to Lough Tay, she wishes she was marrying Paul instead – but when her wish comes true, she starts to wonder if she’s made a mistake.
Where Was Irish Wish Filmed?
The Netflix movie Irish Wish was filmed at Lough Tay, the Cliffs of Moher, the Clarence Hotel in Dublin, Powerscourt Distillery in Co. Wicklow, Ireland West Airport in Knock, Killruddery House, Tutty’s and the Hollywood Inn in Hollywood, Matt Molloy’s, the Octagon, West Coast Rare Books and Kelly’s Tweeds and Knitwear in Westport.
Lindsay Lohan’s Irish romcom was filmed on location in Ireland in 2022, around Co. Clare, Co. Mayo, Co. Wicklow and in Dublin. The wedding dress scenes were filmed in September 2022. Lindsay Lohan was spotted on location in Westport wearing the flouncy dress from the movie.
Irish Wish Locations
Soho Hotel

Irish Wish’s Soho Hotel location is the Clarence Hotel in Temple Bar in Dublin – the scene of A Night with Paul Kennedy, the author’s big event. This sequence was filmed outside the hotel, on the streets of Temple Bar.
Look out for it when Maddie’s scarf gets stuck in the taxi door and when she meets her friends. Another scene from the event was filmed inside one of the Clarence Hotel’s bars.
Soho Hotel Bars
The New York bar locations in Irish Wish are the Curious Mister in Dublin and a bar at the Powerscourt Distillery in Enniskerry. Both of the locations share an Art Deco feel to match the New York setting.
The Powerscourt Distillery is on the Powerscourt Estate in Co. Wicklow – which appeared in Disney’s Disenchanted back in 2022. It’s home to several bars and lounges including the Waterfall Room, where individual whiskey bottles are displayed in cabinets around the walls.
The bar location where Maddie meets Paul is the Curious Mister in the Clarence Hotel, formerly known as the Octagon. Look out for the hotel bar’s distinctive décor, part of the venue’s 2022 refurbishment.
Taxi Ride
Of course, the location in the background is Times Square in New York. But we think there’s a bit of green screen action involved here, don’t you?
Ireland West Airport

Irish Wish’s airport filming location is Ireland West Airport in Knock, Co. Mayo. This is the airport where Maddie meets James at the luggage carousel before boarding the same bus. You can fly from JFK Airport to Knock (including a stopover or two), so this airport location is spot-on.
Bus Journey
James and Maddie’s bus ride from the airport takes them through Westport in Co. Mayo. On their journey, the pair get talking about books before Maddie reveals that she’s Paul Kennedy’s editor.
Kennedy House

The Kennedy House location in Irish Wish is Killruddery House in Bray, Co. Wicklow. The interior and exterior of the house appear as Paul’s mother, Rosemary Kelly’s (Jane Seymour) home in Ireland. It’s previously appeared in numerous films and series including Ella Enchanted, The Tudors and Becoming Jane, so it may look familiar.
The wrought iron gates also belong to Killruddery House in real life. They display the coat of arms of the 4th Earl of Meath, and the Earls of Meath still lay claim to the property.
The Brabazon family has owned Killruddery House for over 400 years, and still live there to this day. But it does open to visitors over the summer – so you can visit the real Kennedy House from Irish Wish! Check the website for details.
Wedding Venue
The wedding venue at Kennedy House is Killruddery House’s Orangery. This Irish Wish filming location is seen during Maddie and Paul’s wedding rehearsal and again, later in the movie.
Designed in the 1850s, it was inspired by London’s Crystal Palace. It overlooks Killruddery’s spectacular gardens which showcase centuries of history (and nowadays, play host to workshops and a café).
Scruffy Murphy’s
Irish Wish’s Scruffy Murphy’s scenes were filmed at three locations: Matt Molloy’s in Westport, and Tutty’s and the Hollywood Inn in Hollywood, Co. Wicklow. Matt Molloy’s on Bridge Street, Westport, is the filming location used for exterior shots of the Lindsay Lohan movie’s Irish pub.
Tutty’s Pub appears as the bar area, making an appearance when James talks to the barman. You may recognize Tutty’s from other screen appearances – it’s gained a reputation among moviemakers as the quintessential Irish pub.
The Hollywood Inn shared a few behind the scenes shots of the bar location in advance of Irish Wish’s Netflix premiere on 15th March 2024. This location appears when James and Maddie go to the bar together after their trip to the cliffs. In the scene, they hang out and play darts at the pub before arriving late to the wedding rehearsal.
Lough Tay
Lindsay Lohan’s Maddie makes her wish beside the real Lough Tay, Co. Wicklow, in the Netflix movie Irish Wish. Lough Tay is one of Wicklow’s most famous landmarks. It’s also known as Guinness Lake because, not only does the Guinness family own some of its shoreline – its said to resemble a pint of the famous drink.
Wedding Dress Shop

The wedding dress shop location in Lindsay Lohan’s Irish Wish is Kelly’s Tweeds and Knitwear, in the Octagon, Westport. Kelly’s Tweeds and Knitwear shared their upcoming cameo in the romcom in February 2024.
In the movie, Maddie is taken to the bridal shop location for a new dress that meets Rosemary Kennedy’s approval. You won’t find wedding dresses here in real life, but you will find all kind of yarn and woolly goods.
Book Shop
The book shop in Irish Wish is West Coast Rare Books in Westport. In the scene, James reluctantly accepts the free gift of the Two Irish Hearts novel. But real shoppers can pick up a rare or secondhand book here instead.
Town Statue

The statue Maddie runs past before falling into James’ car is the St Patrick Statue in Westport, Co. Mayo. It’s in the Octagon, just around the corner from West Coast Rare Books, Matt Molloy’s and Kelly’s dress shop.
So it’s perfectly possible that Maddie could run out of the dress shop and across this street. Likewise, this area is on James’ route away from the bookshop, making this scene geographically accurate.
Cliffs of Moher
The real Cliffs of Moher appear in the film Irish Wish on Netflix. James and Maddie are seen walking the famous cliffs after meeting in the alternate reality. As seen in the Lindsay Lohan romcom, the Cliffs of Moher in Co. Clare offer spectacular scenery and coastal views.
