Paddington in Peru Locations
32 Windsor Gardens
The well-documented Paddington house filming location is on Chalcot Crescent in Primrose Hill, close to the park. The Browns’ home is closer to Notting Hill in Michael Bond’s books, though the area does appear in Paddington 1 and 2 as Mr Gruber’s shop location is in West London.
Mr Brown’s Office
In Paddington 3, Mr Brown’s office location is in The Shard. This feature of the London skyline already made an appearance in Paddington 2, with Paddington cleaning the windows to raise money for the pop-up book.
The Shard joined in the fun with a themed menu at Shangri-La the Shard, and other Paddington-themed treats around the building’s eateries.
Home for Retired Bears
Aunt Lucy’s Home for Retired Bears location in Paddington in Peru was built on set at Berrybushes Farm in Hertfordshire. Michael Bond’s daughter, Karen Jankel, visited the set back in 2023, and reported on Aunt Lucy’s home.
“…they built the complete Home for Retired Bears, everything was three dimensional… there was a reception desk in the home piled with leaflets for activities like bear bingo. The funny little puns would have amused my dad and impressed him too, he had great attention to detail.”
Karen Jankel
Peruvian Village
Another location that was built in Hertfordshire farmland was Paddington 3’s Peruvian village. Production designer Andrew Kelly and his team built fibreglass houses to create it, and even added a river.
Local press picked up on Paddington filming in Hertfordshire near Langlebury and Chipperfield in September 2023.
Peruvian Countryside
Some of Paddington in Peru’s countryside scenes were filmed in Colombia, drawing attention to existing friction in Peru’s film industry. But in the end, the 2024 Paddington movie was also shot on location in Peru, as we’re about to find out.
Incan Ruins
Paddington 3’s Incan ruins scenes feature Huayna Picchu and the real Machu Picchu and the nearby town of the same name. The Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu is surrounded by the Amazon’s forests and the hills of the Peruvian Andes.
Abandoned in the early 1700s, the historical site was reclaimed by nature over the centuries, and wasn’t uncovered until 1911.
Peruvian Mountain
Huarna Picchu is found in Quechua in the Cuzco area, not far from Machu Picchu. It’s inset with tottering staircases and ancient ruins, zigzagging up the mountainside for much of its 2,667 metres.
Lima, Peru
Shots for Paddington in Peru were filmed in the Historic Center of Lima’s Plaza Mayor and the beachside Milaflores district. Meanwhile, the Plaza Mayor, also known as Plaza de Armas, is a grand central square surrounded by grandly designed public buildings on each side.
Town scenes were also filmed in Maras, in the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Cusco, in an area that’s known for its salt mines.
