The 2024 holiday movie Hot Frosty was filmed at Century Public School in Ottawa, Packenam, Alimonte, and Court House Avenue and the Keystorm Pub in Brockville, Canada.

Despite being a Netflix movie, Hot Frosty was made in prime Hallmark movie territory, so if you’re a fan of cosy Christmas viewing, you may just recognise a few of the same seasonal haunts.

After her husband’s death, Kathy (Lacey Chabert) is running low on warmth – but she doesn’t expect to find love with a snowman brought to life, now going by the name of Jack (Dustin Milligan).

Here’s where the Mean Girls and Schitt’s Creek stars filmed the Netflix Christmas movie...

Hot Frosty Filming Locations

Netflix’s Hot Frosty filming locations include Packenham, Alimonte, reStays in Ottawa, and Brockville’s Court House Avenue and Keystorm Pub.

Filming took place in in April and May 2024 – so it took a little bit of filmmaking magic to create those thick blankets of snow!

Hot Frosty Locations List

Hope Springs Snow Sculpture Competition

Hot Frosty’s Annual Snow Sculpture Competition scene was filmed around Court House Green on Church Street in Downtown Brockville, Canada.

Of course, the snow sculpture competition is at the centre of the action – this is where Kathy puts the scarf on the snowman and unwitting turns him into her next love interest.

The snow was added just for the movie, since it was filmed in the spring. But otherwise, the real Hope Springs looks similar in real life.

Downtown Brockville is a walkable part of town, lined with cafes, restaurants and historic buildings – it is one of Ontario’s oldest cities, after all.

Several addresses on Court House Avenue also appear Netflix’s Hot Frosty as Hope Springs’ local shops. According to Ottawa Film Office, Stewart Corbett’s law office at 21 Court House Avenue and the office building at 9 Court House Avenue were also used.

And the city’s residents got in on the act, too. The production company recruited residents to play Hope Springs residents and ice sculptors!

Kathy’s Café

In Netflix’s Hot Frosty, the real cafe location is the Keystorm Pub on Court House Avenue in Brockville, Ontario. And in particular, look out for the pub’s bar area in the 2024 Lacey Chabert Christmas movie under the guise of a local diner.

Other parts of the building were transformed to become more unlikely settings…

Sheriff’s Office

The owner of the Keystorm Pub revealed that it’s the filming location used as the Hope Springs sheriff’s office and jail.

Sounds unlikely that Sheriff Hunter (Craig Robinson) and his deputy (Joe Lo Trugio) would keep a jail in a tap room?

In fact, the Hot Frosty sheriff’s office location was created in the upstairs rooms of the building.

Doctor’s Office

We thinkt the doctor’s office location seen in Hot Frosty is Century Public School in Ottawa, Canada. In the movie, this is where the enchanted snowman is checked over, with non-human results.

As reported by CTV News, Ottawa Film Office shared the filming location in advance of Hot Frosty’s Netflix premiere. Located at 8 Redpine Drive in Ottawa, the school closed to students in 2017.

Apartment

Filming for Hot Frosty’s also took place at reStays at 101 Queen Street in Ottawa. It’s a boutique apart-hotel building in Ottawa’s Downtown area, close to all the city sights and boasting views of Parliament Hill.

And of course, it’s also a Christmas movie hotspot – these are the holiday movies made in Ottawa in 2023 alone!

Kathy’s House

Dustin Milligan and Lacey Chabert

The suburban house location in Hot Frosty is a private home on Elgin Street in Alimonte, on the Mississippi River in Lanark County, Ontario.

This little Canadian town once played a major part in the textile industry, with as many as seven mills running in the early 1900s. But these days, it’s adapted to become a community-spirited town that offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

So of course, it’s become a favourite filing location for cute Christmas movies like Christmas Festival of Ice, Christmas by Design and Christmas Around the Corner.

Now, those are some serious holiday movie credentials – in fact, there’s even a town map to let you explore the holiday movie location highlights!

The Mountains

Scenes were also filmed in nearby Packenham, home to mountain scenery and the Cedar Hill Christmas Tree Farm.

If you’re a festive film fan, take note. This Ottawa Christmas tree farm has appearing in the likes of Christmas Festival of Ice and Christmas Scavenger Hunt.

Not done with Christmas movies yet? Here are the filming locations from the Queen of Christmas, Lacey Chabert, in A Merry Scottish Christmas, Winter in Vail, Christmas at Castle Hart and Haul Out the Holly.

Or catch up with her Mean Girls co-star, Lindsay Lohan in the Netflix romcom Irish Wish.
